  • Base Salary $88,054 - $94,618 (Total Remuneration Package $111,604- $119,087 per annum)

About your new role:

Menzies is looking for an Human Research Ethics Officer to assist in the management of all administrative Research Ethics functions of Menzies.

Under the direction of the Ethics Administration Manager, providing support to the Northern Territory Human Research Ethics Committee (NT HREC) and other research governance committees where required.

The NT HREC is a joint committee of Northern Territory Department of Health (NT DoH) and Menzies. The role of the NT HREC is to consider the ethical aspects of Human Research conducted by the NT DoH and Menzies.  In addition, the NTHREC considers Human Research projects being conducted by other organisations in the NT.

Some of the main key duties the Human Research Ethics Officer will undertake:

  • Assist in the management of all administrative Research Ethics functions of Menzies and the NT HREC (and associated sub-committees if required) including scheduling meetings, minute taking, preparing agendas, distribution of papers, preparing correspondence on behalf of the Chair etc.
  • Receiving, registering, and preparing applications for consideration in accordance with NT HREC Policies and Procedures (including Fast Track processes, drafting amendments, notifications and responding to complaints) and maintaining all NT HREC related files.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and refinement of policies, procedures, systems, training and education activities.
  • Ensuring that researchers and HREC members understand the appropriate ethical standards in research required to conduct research.

What you will bring:

As an enthusiastic, qualified professional, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications, or a combination of qualifications plus experience. You will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. You also possess:

  • Experience preparing ethics applications for consideration in accordance with NT HREC Policies and Procedures (including Fast Track processes, drafting amendments, notifications and responding to complaints) and maintaining all NT HREC related files.
  • Previous administrative experience in a research/academic environment and/or providing administrative support to a committee.
  • Expertise with Microsoft products including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum and $2,650 meal and entertainment card tax free.
