Job description

The Company
A distinguished mining company, setting industry standards with its innovative approach to integrated mining rail and port operations. Located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, the company excels in the safe and efficient export of iron ore. A firm commitment to adopting new technologies underscores its mission to deliver a superior product, minimize waste, enhance operational efficiencies, and, most importantly, ensure a safer workplace. The integrated next-generation mine, rail, and port operations enable sustained low-cost production of iron ore at a consistent quality and grade, allowing the company to adapt to shifting market cycles.
About the Role
Joining the Operations Technical Services team, the Hydrogeology Supervisor will oversee, assist, and lead a team of field hydrogeologists and contractors in executing bore drilling and test pumping activities across the operations. Providing an excellent opportunity for individuals aspiring to advance in their careers. This position not only presents technical complexities but also leadership prospects.
Reporting to the Operations Hydrogeology Superintendent, this role is an integral part of a team consisting of site-based hydrogeologists and a large Water Planning team across both site and the Perth office. The role operates on an 8:6 roster (days only) to ensure continuous coverage, collaborating with the alternate Hydrogeology Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, skilled in stakeholder engagement, possess leadership qualities, and demonstrate strong organizational abilities.
Success in this role hinges on strong safety leadership, effective contractor management skills, and an unwavering commitment to prioritizing safety through proactive choices. The responsibilities include offering technical guidance to the team, focusing on less commonly applied hydrogeological techniques such as drilling and installing vibrating wire piezometers, conducting downhole geophysics, and performing injection bore testing.
What’s in it for You?
Join an established WA iron ore business and get hands-on experience in significant dewatering operations as part of a collaborative team. Take the opportunity to progress into a sought-after Senior position in the industry and immerse yourself in a technologically advanced mine site with a promising growth portfolio. Your efforts will be acknowledged through industry-leading performance bonus plans, along with various employee benefits and discounts. This job offers a blend of practical experience, growth opportunities, and recognition for your contributions.
What else can you expect? Mine site facilities include modern, comfortable camp accommodation, high quality gourmet food options (vegan, gluten free and healthy options), large fully equipped gym facility, as well as a gym specifically for females, heated outdoor swimming pool, beach volleyball court and golf simulators, village shop and extensive supporting amenities. SWIFT in-room entertainment with comprehensive content and own-device casting capability. You can also enjoy being a part of an active social club with community events and activities for employees along with lifestyle, learning and recreation initiatives which provide events for your family.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Hydrogeology or Geoscience field.
  • Experience working in active mining areas including haul roads and other operational areas.
  • Experience in mine dewatering, managed aquifer recharge and contractor management.
  • Experience managing and leading hydrogeological drilling and test pumping programs.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
