Electromagnetic Warfare Intelligence System (EWIS) Maritime Systems Project Office (M SPO) is seeking a highly professional, motivated and experienced APS6 ICT Security Specialist to assist in the management of networks, achieving cyber worthiness compliances and sustaining the overall security posture of systems and technologies responsible for delivering electronic warfare capabilities to the Defence.
This position is responsible for managing the day to day administration of secure networks and technologies requiring compliance with specialised security frameworks. The ICT Security Specialist is an integral part of a team that collaborates to ensure the complex projects adhere to compliance and legislative frameworks through effective decision making, provisioning of subject matter expert advice, including information security, cyber worthiness, supply chain risk management, digital hygiene and accreditation guidance to the SPO’s Executive Leadership Team and key stakeholders.
The successful applicant will be required to utilise strong system administration knowledge along with stakeholder management skills to support a large diverse team to meet their security obligations in a highly secure environment.
The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA).
This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.
About our Team
EWIS-Maritime SPO currently manages a number of electronic warfare systems fitted to both the surface and sub-surface fleet, such as the Nulka Decoy product and various Sensors and Electronic Attack products in both acquisition and sustainment phases. The SPO delivers these capabilities to both the Australian Defence Force and United States Navy.
EWIS-Maritime SPO is widely dispersed across Australia with this position based at Russell, ACT. The successful applicant will participate in an integrated team, including APS, military and contractor staff, to ensure the supported Electronic Warfare capabilities are delivered to the ADF and supported in accordance with operational and compliance requirements, budget, and service agreements. Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate has technical and ICT security skills and experience, which they are interested in applying in a security focused context in the Defence Framework.
The successful applicant will:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Demonstrate strong technical IT skills and experience;
- Documented experience managing IT networks or technologies;
- Demonstrate excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple areas under pressure;
- Have a good understanding of various security frameworks and standards (ISM, PSPF, DSPF etc.);
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a diverse team;
- Understand the importance of security in a Defence context; and
- Ideally have tertiary training applicable to ICT Security (inclusive of Certificates/Diplomas etc.).
Defence specific security training will be provided to the successful candidate to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to undertake the role effectively.
