What you'll be doing
The Drug & Alcohol Service provides safe, compassionate, person centred care to clients and their family/carers impacted by Drug or Alcohol. Through the provision of evidence-based interventions, we aim to achieve optimal health outcomes consistent with ISLHD policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
The Transition to PracticeProvisional Psychologist completes a variety of clinical placement experiences while receiving on site supervision for professional guidance. The experiences and knowledge learnt will allow the clinician to develop and demonstrate competencies required for general registration.
Note: It is the responsibility of the provision psychologist to arrange an offsite principal supervisor.
This is a temporary full time position until 26 January 2025 with the possibility of an extension subject to completion of training
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Selection Criteria * Minimum four year degree in Psychology or equivalent qualification, and the eligibility to become AHPRA approved registered Psychologist.

  • Ability to work within a team and provide a range of interventions e.g., psychosocial assessment, counselling, case management, group work, advocacy, and education.
  • An understanding of alcohol and other drug issues, evidence based psychological interventions and the harm minimisation philosophy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the professional, ethical, and legal requirements as a provisional Psychologist.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
