The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Giving team at Plan International Australia as an Individual Giving Officer, with a strong focus on our Regular Giving programme. This is an 11 to 12 month fixed-term position, covering a Parental leave term within the team. The role will primarily support our Regular Giving Manager to oversee a $21 million (and growing) portfolio of Regular Giving income from two major areas: child sponsorship and non-child sponsorship Regular Giving. There will be a strong focus on optimising partnerships with our external fundraising suppliers, particularly in face-to-face, telemarketing and digital fundraising. The role is accountable for ensuring suppliers meet their performance KPI’s and will also support the wider Giving team’s direct marketing and retention activities.

Who are we?

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 80 countries.

What it’s really like

An average day in the PIA, the Giving team is quite varied – no day will be quite the same, but throughout your time, we will see you performing these duties:

• Optimising fundraising partner performance through training, call listening, contributing to regular WIPs and performance meetings and helping our external suppliers enhance our fundraising programmes.

• Producing fundraising collateral including pitch material, telemarketing call guides, lead generation collateral, impact reports and other engaging communications for our donors.

• Help identify and implement new opportunities within our current Regular giving portfolio from new creatives to new products and channels through to optimising technology and developing process improvements in order to maximise Return on Investment for the overall program.

• With the support of the Regular Giving Manager and Associate Director of Giving, develop partnership agreements including negotiating contract terms and constantly reviewing and assessing performance against agreed criteria.

• Work with the wider Giving team across other channels including direct mail and digital with a strong focus on donor retention and ensuring a fantastic donor experience.

Our office is in Southbank. We’re looking for someone who can undertake some of their work here, and some of their work at home.

We work hard, but we are always flexible and supportive, offering inclusive leave. We have weekly team meetings, and regular organisation-wide catch ups. From salary packaging to an Employee Assistance Program to support your wellbeing, we are a people-first workplace.

Who are you?

We’re looking for a confident communicator who can run training sessions, motivate fundraising teams and manage and optimise performance. You will also need strong numeracy skills, an eye for detail and be meticulous in tracking performance KPI’s and expenditure.

The core skills we are looking for are:

• Experience in revenue generating programmes, preferably Regular Giving

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to run training and manage performance

• Excellent data skills and the ability to monitor and report on income and expenditure budgets
