About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Sewing Machinist and Cutter to join our team on a full-time or casual basis.
This role involves measuring and cutting fabrics according to patterns and sewing upholstery covers for commercial office furniture.
The ideal candidate will have experience in both manual and automated cutting, as well as sewing and overlocking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sewing & Overlocking:
- Sew fabrics according to patterns to meet commercial office seating requirements.
- Operate various machines including single needle serge, overlock, and blind hem.
- Cutting:
- Manual Cutting: Cut fabrics manually according to patterns.
- Automated Cutting: Review electronic plans, upload them to cutting table, and monitor output.
- Production Plan: Follow a pre-determined production plan to ensure products are completed within the required timeframe.
- Stock Control: Assist with the control and management of stock fabrics.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Production Manager.
About You:
- At least 2 years’ experience in cutting and sewing fabrics, preferably within the upholstery industry.
- Experience with automated fabric cutting tables is preferred.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience using Pathfinder Cutting table is preferred.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, manage, and prioritise multiple requests.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in production environments.
