Industry Advocate
The Government of South Australia is seeking applications from high calibre candidates with significant executive leadership experience.
Located in the Adelaide CBD, the Industry Advocate is a statutory role, appointed by Her Excellency the Governor under the Industry Advocate Act 2017. The Advocate will have responsibility for leading the Office of the Industry Advocate, comprising of staff assigned to the Office by the Department of Treasury and Finance, and will provide leadership, management, policy and strategic advice.
The Industry Advocate’s role is to increase the number and diversity of South Australian based businesses winning government contracts by:
- promoting competitive, capable local businesses to government purchasers and private sector companies delivering contracts on behalf of the government;
- recommending reforms to procurement and contracting practices to ensure local businesses are not disadvantaged; and
- ensuring local businesses have a full, fair and reasonable opportunity to win work on major projects under the South Australian Industry Participation Policy.
