Permanent, part-time position, 49 hours per fortnight. 

Band 5, $74,798 – $86,015 plus superannuation

Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library will be a state-of-the-art, innovative library committed to serving our diverse community by providing access to information, resources, and programs that enrich lives and inspire lifelong learning. As we embark on this exciting journey, we are seeking a dedicated Information Services Librarian to help us build and grow our library services.

This position is vital for the library’s strategic planning, particularly in relation to emerging technologies, devices and online information resources. The responsibilities connected to this position include the provision of learning opportunities related to reader advisory, engagement and literacy development for library staff and patrons.

The ISL is responsible for developing and delivering information retrieval and technology training programs, as well as providing individual support to library staff and customers. The ISL will also cultivate partnerships with relevant stakeholders, with a special focus on the library’s role as a dynamic and pivotal contributor to community information and technology needs.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Use, understand, anticipate and respond to developments in print and online information retrieval to confidently deliver Information Services to library customers.
  • Foster opportunities for community connection for adults through programming and facilitated sessions based around community needs and interests.
  • Understand the information needs of customers, their capabilities and constraints.
  • Provide learning opportunities in the areas of reader advisory, engagement and literacy development for library staff and customers.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for library staff and customers that align with their information retrieval needs.
  • Support the Library Coordinator in their day-to-day activities and be prepared to act in their position as required.
  • Develop and nurture partnerships with relevant stakeholders, with a focus on the library as a dynamic and key contributor to community information and literacy needs.
  • Contribute to GRLC forward planning processes particularly in relation to emerging and creative technologies, devices and online information resources.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of library policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.


Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor's degree or graduate diploma in a relevant field.
  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and fostering a welcoming and inclusive library environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering library programs and outreach activities for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in library services, including digital literacy initiatives and information literacy instruction.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace innovation and change in a dynamic library setting.
