We are seeking an Innovation Coach to join our family. Reporting to the Innovation Manager and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will work in and leverage the expertise of a multidisciplinary team who specialise in different innovation domains to deliver innovation projects that work towards deepening our impact and sustainably growing.

About our role

The role sits in the Innovation Team who enable The Smith Family's ability to learn, adapt, and change to accelerate progress towards our purpose. The Team supports the delivery of Innovation Projects, builds Innovation Capability and provides advice and support. It is a multidisciplinary team who specialise in different innovation domains - e.g. HCD, Service Design, Community Development, Social Innovation, Strategy. The Innovation Coach will lead the Capability Building function of the team. While every day will look different, an Innovation Coach will primarily:

  • Lead the development and continued evolution of the Innovation Capability Strategy.
  • Continually engage with the organisation to understand the innovation capability needs of different team members to be applied to any innovation capability initiatives.
  • Engage with internal and external innovation experts to develop and implement the Innovation Capability Strategy
  • Develop and deliver innovation training and development or other capability building initiatives
  • Develop and manage an innovation community of practice/s to connect, learn and evolve innovation practice.
  • Guide project and innovation leaders in the use of The Smith Family's Innovation Capabilities

About you

You love learning and learning how to learn - for you and others. You don't have to be an expert in Innovation but have an interest or passion for Innovation - particularly in how this can look in a social impact setting. You are deeply relational and empathetic. You love to connect with people and understand what makes them tick. You have a deep curiosity for how things might be. Your human-centric perspective means you put others in the centre of design and decision making - particularly those who are often underrepresented. You have a creative flare and an ability to tell a good story. Given this some key competencies and experiences you would bring to role include:

  • Working in a large or complex organisation to deliver learning design, capability building or organisational development initiatives.
  • Communicating complex concepts, experiences and processes in accessible ways.
  • Complex problem solving, systems thinking and analytical capability.
  • Empathy and relationship building skills.
  • Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check
