About the Role

Due to the increasing demand for our insurance building services, we are expanding our WA branch and are seeking to appoint an experienced Insurance Repair Assessor & Estimator to join our Perth team.  

Reporting to the Construction Team Leader in Brisbane, this is an integral role within the division where you are responsible for delivering high-volume, high-quality Insurance Repair assessments / Scopes of Work [SOW] & Estimates for both residential and commercial Insurance Repair projects.

You play a critical part in on-site evaluations to assess the extent of damage or required repairs. This involves inspecting the property, identifying issues, and documenting the condition of various components such as structural elements, plumbing, electrical systems, roofing, and interior finishes. Your knowledge of construction materials, labor costs, and market rates, will allow you to calculate the projected costs associated with repairing or replacing damaged or deteriorated components. This includes estimating material quantities, labor hours, and subcontractor costs.

This role covers Perth Metro from Lower Chittering to Bunbury.  You will work with our Insurance Repair Assessor and Supervisor in Perth, and our Estimating Team Leader, Insurance Construction Manager & the Project Coordinator team in Brisbane to provide a high level of customer service to both our clients & policy holders as well as Australia's leading Insurance companies. 

Working Conditions:

This position primarily operates in a field environment, requiring regular travel to assess property damage and meet with clients and contractors. The work may involve exposure to various weather conditions and physical demands such as climbing, bending, and lifting. Flexibility in work hours may be required to accommodate client schedules and project deadlines.

Your key responsibilities include

  1. Conduct on-site assessments of property damage caused by various perils such as fire, water, wind, and other insured events.
  2. Document the extent of damage and develop detailed repair estimates in accordance with industry standards and insurance guidelines.
  3. Communicate effectively with insurance adjusters, policyholders, and contractors to coordinate repair efforts and ensure timely resolution of claims.
  4. Review insurance policies to determine coverage limits, exclusions, and deductible amounts applicable to each claim.
  5. Negotiate repair costs with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
  6. Provide guidance and support to policyholders throughout the claims process, including explaining coverage, answering questions, and addressing concerns.

Skills and Experience

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction estimating, assessing insurance claims.
  2. Proficiency in estimating software such as Pime or similar programs.
  3. Strong knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, and repair processes.
  4. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret insurance policies and assess property damage accurately.
  5. Effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  7. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
