The role

As our Internal Controls Specialist, you will be part of the assurance function and oversee all process and control compliance activities for the Group function. You will also provide critical, independent, clear and practical advice to stakeholders to ensure the right processes and Internal Controls are in place with the goal of improving business performance through risk management and control.

You will report directly to the General Manager of Finance.

This role can be based in either Adelaide or Sydney, this is a full-time permanent role, which offers flexible work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  •  Review and improve company compliance with process and control documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and manage compliance documentation, including narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices, testing and control evaluation.
  • Assist with ongoing training on controls, policies and procedures compliance.
  • Assess impact of new initiatives on key controls and ensure appropriate design and implementation.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit controls testing efforts, including audit requests and evaluation of deficiencies.
  • Analyse and enhance business processes and Internal Controls in collaboration with process owners.
  • Plan and develop project timelines, risk assessments, and ad-hoc assessments related to financial reporting.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor recommendation implementation for continuous control improvement.

What you will need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CA or CPA preferred).
  • Extensive experience (6+ years) in internal audit, preferably within an ASX-listed company or similar environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of SOX requirements
  • Experience with the implementation of SOX for management's assessment of Internal Controls over financial reporting preferred.
  • Organisation and attention to detail skills,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to keep calm under pressure, especially when there are tight deadlines.
  • The ability to think objectively and problem solve. Thanks to your analytical and project management skills you are able to challenge and think outside the box.
