The Interventional Radiology (IR) Service at Liverpool Hospital is a modern, specialised service that uses minimally invasive image guided techniques to diagnose and treat patients. IR Services include General IR and INR (Interventional Neuro Radiology) and supports Vascular Surgery. It is a clinically integrated service with outpatient clinics and procedural lists, inpatient management and 24 hour emergent care.The field of IR is rapidly evolving with innovative new treatments available to local patients providing low risk favorable outcomes. Through the SWSLHD redevelopment project, IR is installing new state-of-the-art equipment to support these emerging treatments and provide a leading Interventional service to our patients. We have an exciting few years ahead with the growth of IR at Liverpool, and the installation of a Angio-CT-MRI Nexaris Suite due to come online mid-2024.As the acting Chief Radiographer of Interventional Radiology, you will manage a team of specialised Interventional Radiographers, and work closely with our nursing staff, radiologists and administrative support team to provide top-quality Interventional services in NSW Health. You will work closely with the Head of Department to ensure all financial, equipment and human resources are utilized responsibly and efficiently.You will be responsible for leading the Interventional Radiology department, and ensuring that we are working with continuous improvement and provision of excellent patient care in mind.What You'll be Doing
Provide a high quality Interventional Imaging service to patients and carers of SWSLHD and to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes for patients of the service, using current and up to date safety standards.To demonstrate independent and appropriate professional knowledge and judgement to acquire and exhibit competency in all clinical and diagnostic tasks.To perform Interventional Imaging services (CT and DSA) as requested whilst providing junior staff with experienced imaging skills support.How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Degree or equivalent in Medical Imaging from a recognised university or qualification deemed by APHRA and registered and eligible to remain on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency’s (APHRA) Medical Radiation Practice Board Registry as well as holding a current NSW EPA radiation licence.

  • Demonstrate significant professional knowledge and judgment to acquire and exhibit competency in all appropriate clinical tasks
  • Demonstrate a patient focussed approach to service delivery
  • Demonstrate good time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide training and assess clinical experience of students and other IR radiographers within the department and the LHD when required
  • Demonstrate the ability to participate in developing and implementing procedures and protocols for the department as required
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with department managers and staff, other hospital staff, private referrers, company sales representatives, patients and their family members
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
