Our client is a seeking “a-whole-next-level” of irrigation expertise in irrigated cotton and sorghum for their Border Rivers, Aggregation.
Reporting directly to the newly appointed Farm Manager this ‘hands-on irrigation co-ordinator’ role is responsible for all day-to-day water operations across the >10,000 Ha aggregation.
You will work with a dedicated team but have direct responsibility of irrigation management, from planning and implementation to maintenance and evaluation.
Whilst the scale of the operations will require comprehensive experience, the aggregation has been thoughtfully developed to ensure reliability and productivity, and as such has the scale, substantial water assets and high-quality infrastructure to suit a highly dynamic operator wanting more responsibility and/or recognition within the cotton and grain industry.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, implement, and manage irrigation schedules based on crop needs, weather conditions, and water availability.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation infrastructure, including pumps, pipes, and sprinkler systems, to ensure optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with the Farm Manager and other team members to develop water-efficient practices and improve irrigation efficiency.
- Conduct regular field inspections to assess crop moisture levels and adjust irrigation practices accordingly.
- Keep accurate records of water usage, irrigation schedules, and maintenance activities.
- Stay abreast of advancements in irrigation technology and methods to continually enhance irrigation practices.
- Proven experience in agricultural irrigation management.
- Strong understanding of crop water requirements and irrigation systems.
- Relevant qualifications in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field are desirable.
- Ability to operate farm machinery and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to help create and maintain a supportive on-farm culture.
- Extremely attractive base salary will be negotiated based on experience.
