What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Psychiatry Advanced Trainee role is to provide high level specialist psychiatric health services to children, adolescents and their families.
Psychiatry Advanced Trainees will, under supervision, provide expertise within a biopsychosocial and cultural framework to patients across the lifespan and from various backgrounds, including attending to the basic physical health needs of a patient when physical health concerns are present or related to the psychiatric condition or to the prescription of psychiatric medication.
Psychiatry Advanced Trainees undertake advanced level learning and elective clinical rotations in approved areas of practice as part of either a generalist or sub-specialty training stream and develop higher level professional competencies required to meet Fellowship requirements of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).
Selection Criteria * MBBS or equivalent and current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia, with a minimum of 4 (four) full year of postgraduate experience, including successful completion of Stages 1 and 2 of the RANZCP training program, with current status with the RANZCP as a Basic or Advanced Trainee and intent to obtain Fellowship of the RANZCP with a clear pathway to Fellowship.
- Demonstrate a child, adolescent and family-centred approach that is recovery-oriented and trauma- informed to deliver excellent evidence-based clinical care.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills, both verbal and written that adapts to the needs of a broad range of people, including children, adolescents, families, professional and non-professional colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, with high level conflict resolution skills in a high pressure and unpredictable environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional and educational development.
- Demonstrated high level ability to manage competing priorities to ensure the delivery and maintenance of high-quality care in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance issues and commitment to participating in quality and safety improvement activities.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive . All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
