An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Job Readiness Trainer to join the welcoming and supportive team based in Hobart for the STEPS Work Mates program.

The STEPS Work Mates program provides long-term and personalised employment coaching to anyone with an NDIS plan. STEPS Work Mates can help people with a disability transition seamlessly from school into work through School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES). STEPS can also provide support for people who have already completed school and have an employment goal in their NDIS plan (Finding and Keeping a Job). No matter where participants are in their employment journey, Work Mates can help every step of the way.

Your responsibilities

  • Implement individualized services based on available resources and clients needs.
  • Source suitable volunteer work experience for participants
  • Provide support "on the job" and in the community to the participant, employers and community organisations
  • Undertake assessments and review individual plans to ensure quality training and learning occurs for participants
  • Identify barriers to service delivery and problem solve potential solutions

The Successful Applicant

  • MUST HAVE a minimum of 1 year experience in a disability support environment withexperience holding group sessions in any field desirable.
  • Ability to identify employment based skills required and assist in preparing a person with a disability to be successful in the workplace
  • Ability to liase with employers to analyse job requirements, workplace needs, providing support and guidance throughout
  • Can work independently without prompting, is able to think outside the box and make the training sessions, person centred.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Mandatory


Applicants must have the ability to hold a Working with Children Card, hold a NDIS Worker Screening Check and have a current P2 or Open Driver's Licence.
