Journalist/Newsreader (Full-time) Geelong Broadcasters

Geelong Broadcasters is 'Connecting a Greater Geelong and Beyond' and we are on the hunt for an experienced full-time Journalist/Newsreader to join us at K rock 95.5 and bay 95.5.  Boasting one of the best newsrooms in the country, you will be part of a close-knit, super-friendly team working in our state-of-the-art studios in vibrant Geelong.  

We are an independent media outlet, dedicated to the delivery of real, ethical and factual news.  With a strong focus on hyper-localism, our hardworking talented team identifies, researches and delivers hot and breaking local stories, as well as the national and global headlines that Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine need to know.

The winning candidate will have: 

• A passion for real, ethical, factual news and the ability to cover the whole news spectrum (with a core focus on localism).
• A solid, contemporary reading style and the ability to write and read great content quickly and calmly, even when the pressure is on.
• An understanding of online news and its importance in a commercial radio environment.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in a commercial radio newsroom, events, a keen eye for a good story and how to get up-to-the minute, fast-breaking news to our listeners.
• The ability to work as part of a highly skilled, friendly team.  You will also be capable of holding down a super-busy solo shift.
• Enthusiasm for early and/or afternoon shifts and weekends.
• Bonus points: a working knowledge of News Boss.
