The Position 

Reporting through to the Tasmanian Branch Manager, you’ll join as the newest member of our close-knit and high performing team of 4.   

This position presents as the perfect opportunity to build a successful and rewarding career in business-to-business sales.  Your journey with Meyer Timber will begin in our office-based customer service and sales position.  As our first point of contact for customers in the office you will be busy answering calls and responding to emails to assist customers with their purchase orders and process these orders in the system.  Over time this will help you build great long lasting customer relationships and learn the Meyer Timber business. 

Essential to your long-term success in the business will be your communication and relationship building skills. You will be joining Meyer Timber as a member of the Tasmanian team.  The relationships with your Tasmanian and interstate colleagues will be very important to your success and enjoyment within the business long term.  Of equal importance will be your ability to build and sustain professional relationships with customers, many of which you will engage with for many years. 

Another key ingredient to long-term success at the Meyer Timber Group, is the care you take with your work and the effort you make to get things right for your teammates and the customer first time round.  Each step in the process is important and when you get your piece right this then flows on to have a positive impact on the customer experience and the efficiency of workflow in the business.

Right fit for you?

This position is ideally suited to an individual with plenty of energy and drive as well as previous experience working in a sales and/or customer service position. 

Additional Selection Criteria includes:

  • Good verbal communication skills – we are in search of a positive and articulate communicator who connects will with others;
  • A proven track record as a good team player;
  • A keen attention to detail and a natural willingness to take care and get things right the first time;
  • An ability to ‘think on your feet’, multitask and remain effective under pressure;
  • Confident technology skills; and,
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills. 

Previous experience working within a wholesale/distribution environment and/or within the building/construction industry will be well regarded, however is not essential.
