Job description

At Swyftx, we're not just building a fintech scaleup; we're shaping the future of Australia's digital currency industry. With over 700,000 users, we have our sights set high, aiming to be Australia's largest cryptocurrency trading platform and the next billion-dollar success story.

This is not just another job opportunity; it's a chance to make your mark in an industry-defining company. As a Junior Backend Software Engineer at Swyftx, you will contribute to the success of the team through the creation of scalable, testable, and maintainable code, along with the delivery of technical solutions and strategy. You will join a high-performing and passionate group of Engineers who love what they do and take pride in the craftsmanship of their code.

Please note that this is a hybrid role, with 3 days working from home and 2 office-based days from our Brisbane head office.

Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay on top of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technology, and software development best practices.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Working with the team, other colleagues, and team leaders to achieve ORKs through innovative solutions and policy and procedure development.
  • Programming and Coding: Contributing to programming and development across technical solutions.
  • Problem Solving and Bug Resolution: Solve technical issues, provide technological support, fix system bugs urgently and be available for emergency fixes outside of regular business hours.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Document work and lessons learned in appropriate systems for future reference and knowledge sharing, report on work progress and learning and development needs.

To be successful you will have:

  • Familiarity with backend technologies, such as Node.js and TypeScript is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Positive, can-do attitude, driven by strong desire to learn and develop technical skills and capabilities.
  • High attention to detail, strong initiative, adaptability, and a proactive nature.
  • Team player with ability to build quality relationships and influence and motivate others.
  • Interest in writing software that meets functional requirements and balances non-functional requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team.
  • Developed organisational skills, including time management and ability to stay calm under pressure and achieve challenging deadlines.
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Some of our perks and benefits include:

  • Unlimited fee-free trading.
  • Career growth, training, mentorship, and development opportunities.
  • Social activities, game breaks and end of month awards.
  • Fully stocked kitchen, breakfast and lunch foods, unlimited fresh fruit, snacks and kombucha.
  • Weekly catered lunches on a Wednesday.
