BizCover is looking for a Junior Cyber Security Engineer who will support the business in operating and advancing an effective Cyber Security capability. This role is perfect for someone who is kick starting their career in Cyber Security. The role will require operating security technologies, performing risk assessments, producing reporting, and monitoring security events and responding to incidents. You will also assist with providing Cyber Security advice to the business.
What will I be doing?
- Support IT with monitoring, investigating, and responding to Cyber Security events and alerts.
- Support IT team with managing and uplifting security platforms, including vulnerability management, anti-malware, IAM, and security logging and monitoring tools.
- Support IT with the design and implementation of new Cyber Security technologies.
- Support the business and development teams with guidance on designing and implementing robust and secure systems.
- Support the business with understanding Cyber Security risks and issues.
- Monitor and hunt for suspicious or anomalous activities (e.g., phishing emails, malware, intrusions) using security techniques and systems such as DLP and SIEM.
- Support penetration testing and red/blue team exercises.
- Support in developing security policies, standards, and processes.
- Perform security risk assessments on IT systems and third parties.
- Contribute towards evaluation of emerging Cyber Security technologies.
- Research current cyber trends and threats.
- Generate and present reports on Cyber Security operations and compliance.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call roster to ensure coverage for critical cyber incidents that may occur after hours.
- Support BizCover staff questions on cyber-safe practices and education.
Requirements
Who we want?
- Degree or Diploma Qualified.
- Minimum 1 year in a cyber related role.
- Any associated security related certification is desirable.
- Experience with Cyber Security technologies, and M365 security products.
- Has performed incident response and management.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001
- Strong grasp of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
- Familiarity with network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls
- Familiarity with email security practices, including spam filtering, encryption, and authentication mechanisms
- Understanding of network protocols and services (e.g., HTTP, FTP, SMTP, IMAP)
- Proficient understanding of various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux
- Ability to perform basic system administration tasks such as user management, file permissions, and software installations
- Familiarity with system troubleshooting techniques
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication skills as you will be interacting with various teams within the business.
- Time management and prioritisation skills. You will be overseeing requests from multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
- Diligence, desire to research, learn, and take initiative.
