Role Purpose: Working closely with the Category, Buying, and Campaign team, the Junior Merchandise Planner plays a crucial role in driving revenues and margin by managing the demand plan, ensuring stock availability, and supporting the team in analysing product, promotion, and category performance.
Position Details: The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Demand Planning: Manage the line level forecast to ensure timely replenishment and availability of appropriate inventory to meet sales and margin targets while minimizing costs.
- Budget Alignment: Ensure that line level forecasts align with budgeted revenues and inform the team of risks or opportunities to budget.
- Forecast Accuracy: Regularly review forecasting calculations, parameters, and methodology to improve forecast accuracy.
- Promotional Planning: Coordinate and propose the promotional plan at SKU and/or category levels in collaboration with the buyer and CM of the relevant category. Provide data and insights on promotional performance.
- Supplier Collaboration: Provide forecasts to suppliers and the operations team to ensure stock, capacity, and raw materials are available to meet projected demand.
- Inventory Management: Manage pricing, promotion, merchandising, and product supply to meet or exceed stock availability targets and stay within budget.
- Data Analysis: Provide data, insights, and recommendations to the product team for revenue growth, range reviews, assortment development, and budgeting.
- OTB and Merchandise Plans: Assist in developing and managing the Open-to-Buy (OTB) and merchandise plans.
- Market Awareness: Stay updated on product and market trends, competitors, suppliers, and macroeconomics to optimize demand and merchandise plans.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports. Develop new reporting tools and suggest innovative approaches.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Provide support and recommendations to drive sales, reduce costs, and enhance the customer experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of previous experience as a junior planner or demand planner in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Experience in forecasting and managing promotions, pricing, and inventory.
- Analytical mindset with strong financial and numerical skills, excellent attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills; knowledge of SQL and databases is a plus.
- Experience using an ERP and Forecasting/planning systems is desirable.
- High levels of energy with good time management and multitasking aptitudes.
- Team player with the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders within the business.
- Results-driven; you enjoy driving performance and putting the customer at the centre of every decision.
- Problem-solving abilities, initiative, and a willingness to learn are must-haves.
