JUNIOR SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST/COUNSELLOR - Multiple Roles Available
 

Are you looking for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people? Suitably experienced and qualified applicants are invited to apply for the roles of Junior School Psychologist/Counsellor.

The opportunity

We have multiple opportunities within our Junior Schol for qualified, experienced Psychologists/Counsellors and Wellbeing Support Officers, with an interest in developing and supporting the wellbeing of our young people. 

There are opportunities for full-time and part-time hours, along with fixed-term and permanent appointments. 
 

Position 1 
A permanent, full-time, year-round role commencing as soon as possible, for a Psychologist or Counsellor with relevant qualifications and experience. There is an opportunity for this position to grow into a Team Leader role and mentor and support other members of the Wellbeing Team.

Position 2
A fixed-term, full-time, term-time role for a Wellbeing Support team member, commencing in August 2024 and concluding August 2025to cover a period of leave. 

Position 3
A fixed-term, part-time, term-time role for a Wellbeing Support team member, commencing in late-2024 to mid-2025 to cover a period of leave. The hours are 22.8 hours per week, worked over three days. 

Wellbeing Support Team members complete a range of duties to assist students and this may include formal or informal counselling, therapeutic, practical strategies to encage wellbeing.  
 

About the roles

The School Psychologist/Counsellor monitors the emotional wellbeing of individual students and provides internal support or sources external services to meet the diverse needs of our learners. This is a chance to influence educational outcomes through the College’s holistic approach to student development.

About you

You will have had experience working in a similar role in a school environment.  You will demonstrate strengths in building relationships with colleagues and the wider College community, possesses excellent communication skills. 

The successful candidate/s will:

  • Have knowledge of the principles of positive psychology embedded in school contexts
  • Demonstrate a passion for collaborative working as a member of a high-functioning team, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and demonstrate a willingness to grow through the sharing of best practice and professional experience
  • Join and attend meetings/activities of the Wellbeing Team 
  • Run Parent Education courses when demand exists and time permits 
  • Liaise closely with the other members of the Wellbeing Team and the Student Support and Enrichment Team.  
  • Lead the staff in training of matters relating to child protection and reportable conduct 
  • Possess excellent communications skills both written and verbal, as well as excellent time management skills
  • Assist in developing strong connections and referral relationships with third party organisations, to further support student needs
  • Be committed to your professional development, continuous development of your practices and obligations under your relevant professional registration/memberships 
  • Commit to the safeguarding and promotion of student welfare
  • Support Radford’s strategic priorities and goals

Qualifications

  • Eligibility for registered membership with an appropriate professional association (ie Australian Association of Social Workers AASW, or Australian Psychological Society APS, or Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency AHPRA)
  • Tertiary qualifications, holding an undergraduate degree as a minimum requirement
  • Working With Vulnerable People Clearance 
     

Desired Qualifications & Skills 

  • Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist, would be highly regarded.
  • The applicable training and experience to undertake formal assessments, utilise diagnostics methods and provide final reports to families, would be highly regarded.
