We have an extensive and established client base and are considered one of Queensland's leading criminal law firms. We conduct all aspects of criminal law and appear throughout Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory representing our client's in all aspects of criminal law defence, domestic violence matters and child safety.
We are an ever growing, busy law firm looking to add to our existing team.
- Junior Solicitor / Graduate Lawyer.
The successful candidate would benefit from experience working in a similar environment, either pre or post admission. Ongoing mentoring and training will be provided by our experienced team.
The position requires strong advocacy skills, an understanding of relevant legislation and the workings of the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts, and an ability to develop relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds. A passion for criminal law defence and obtaining successful outcomes for our valued client's is a must.
The Role/Key Responsibilities
- Independent, confident conduct of court matters including daily appearances in Court;
- Being able to accommodate and embrace a busy and varied workload;
- File management including drafting correspondence and general file maintenance.
- An ability to form relationships with other members of the team;
- Drafting legal submissions and completing research for sentences and trials;
- Working with Counsel;
- A valid drivers licence is essential as travel to other jurisdictions is necessary;
- A respectful and ethical manner is essential; and
- The ability to obtain a Queensland Practicing Certificate upon employment.
Knowledge of Legal Aid Queensland and Duty Lawyer accreditation would be beneficial.
Salary is negotiable upon experience.
