We are looking for an up-and-coming Sommelier or passionate wine waiter to join our team at Compa, one of Canberra’s most exciting restaurants to date. COMPA, an Italian style steakhouse, is built on a simple, often forgotten pairing: good food and good wine.
This is a hands-on role with focus on service delivery of both wine and food. You will have a passion and deep appreciation of wine, and a desire to deliver Canberra’s best wine experience.

About the Role
- Full time role
- Deliver outstanding wine service and helping guests choose the ideal wine to enhance their dining experience.
- Manage wine and beverage inventory
- Help and support the team on the floor and in the bar when required
- Available to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
About You
- Basic knowledge in local, national and international wine
- Passion for wine and the industry
- Exceptional service skills
- Excellent communication and organisation
- Outgoing personality and genuine interest hospitality
- Adaptable, flexible and able to work in a high pressure environment
- Possess a valid Certificate of Responsible Service of Alcohol
- WSET or CMS qualification or equivalent and advantage
- Experience as Sommelier / Wine Waitstaff in a fine dining and/or high volume restaurant and advantage
- Valid ACT RSA and full working rights in Australia
