- Lunch cover position to begin end of January 2024 - 5 days available in total - you can request all the days of one program, or all 5 days - see below
- Mon, Wed, Thurs - 3 Year old program (Yellow Joeys)
- Tues and Fri - 4 Year old program (Red Roos)
- Part-time hours – Total 3 hours per day (2 hrs contact | 1 hrs non-contact) MON - FRI (11.30 - 2.30)
- Hawthorn Location | Close to PT | Local Cafes
- We are open to new graduates with opportunities for mentoring
- Must have VIT if you are applying as a teacher, or WWC and relevant certification to apply as an educator.
- Additional teaching and educator opportunities will be available at the kindergarten by joining the WHPS Relief Pool.
About West Hawthorn Pre-school
We are community based, sessional kindergarten providing two programs for three-year-old and two programs for four-year-old children. Established in 1947, West Hawthorn Pre-school has been providing enriching learning experiences for over 70 years. We are a friendly, caring and respected, not-for-profit pre-school and can be found nestled amongst the peaceful and leafy surrounds of Smart Street Reserve.

About The Role
As a Lunch Cover Teacher / Educator at WHPS, you support the programs and practices that are responsive to our children's needs and aligned with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, and National Quality Standards and Regulations. You are enthusiastic and possess a natural affinity with children, and ensure a safe, quality program that motivates children to learn.
You are part of our supportive culture and work with guidance from the Teachers and Educators you will be covering, as well as our Director who supports your professional development and growth.
You inspire, motivate and collaborate with the Teachers and Educators that you work with.
Responsibilities
- To work cooperatively and professionally as a member of a team, and support the high-quality educational program for the children
- To communicate effectively with children, committee, parents, staff and other professionals in a cooperative and professional manner
- To exceed the requirements of the relevant Children’s Services Regulations and Children’s Services Act and all centre policies and procedures
- To have an in-depth understanding and adherence to our Pre-school Policies + Procedures
Requirements & Qualifications
The following is essential for this position:
- Teacher position requires: Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or equivalent (as approved ACECQA), with current VIT registration
- Educator position requires: Qualifications in Early Childhood Education; Certificate III or Diploma trained, a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a Police Check less than 5 years old
- A clear understanding of following a curriculum
- A high level of initiative
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Current certification in First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma and CPR
- 2 Professional Referees
