We are pleased to be hiring a new and exciting opportunity as a Kitchen Operations Manager to join our team based in Adelaide. Where you will plan, direct, execute and supervise a team of chef’s and cooks. The Kitchen Operations Manager will be accountable for the production of food within a HACCP certified kitchen and within agreed budgetary guidelines, meet food standards for SA health care facilities and actively participates in menu design and quality improvement.

A critical element of this role is the culture piece and the leadership of a team in line with the Downer standards, while embracing authenticity and kindness, being a role model and coach to the broader operational team.

What you’ll do

  • Provide instruction and guidance, support and motivation as necessary, assisting team  members  to  achieve  required  outcomes  and  especially  where  demand  peaks.
  • Ensure robust and accurate rostering to facilitate adequate staffing levels and cover of positions and level of service required.
  • Assembly, preparation and production of food requirements in line with HACCP and the Food Services Plan.
  • Receive and check foodstuffs in accordance with company policies.
  • Take a leadership role in the adherence to and review of the Food Services Plan
  • Menu management and design, including innovation and quality improvement.
  • Cost of goods management and supplier engagement
  • Most importantly you will lead by example and build a positive culture (food and staffing) for a large high performing team, working in a high-pressured environment.

What you’ll bring

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
  • Workplace Hygiene Certificate.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • Extensive experience in the management and delivery of large-scale catering operations.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the menu and nutritional standards for public hospitals in South Australia.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment (desirable)
  • Knowledge of the HACCP Accreditation and requirements (desirable)
