  • Employment Term: Casual and Permanent Part Time opportunities 
  • Location: Star of the Seas Elders Village – Thursday Island
  • Remuneration:  $23.57 ph (plus 25% loading for casual hours) + 10.5% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowances 

The Pinangba service of Star of the Sea Elders Village services the Torres Strait Islands. It prides itself on empowering our Elders in their day-to-day lives and improving health outcomes for Torres Strait Islander communities.

We have job openings for experienced Kitchenhand, Housekeepers, Cleaners to join our facility on a permanent part time or casual basis.  A great opportunity to experience the rewards of supporting people to maintain their independence so they can live life their way.

The role of the Hospitality Officer is varied.  Your day will mainly involve carrying out safe and efficient Kitchenhand duties as well as helping in housekeeping, cleaning and laundry services where needed with an emphasis on the needs and wellbeing of our residents!  As part of your role you’ll:

  • Maintain high hygienic standards throughout the entire facility, including communal living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms and equipment of our residents.
  • Assist with laundry services, kitchen, housekeeping and any other hospitality related responsibilities as instructed by your supervisor.

What you’ll need:

You’ll be an experienced kitchenhand - preferably within the aged care sector (not essential) – and demonstrate:

  • Excellent customer service.
  • Enthusiasm and strong self-motivation.
  • Great communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies.

Supporting our clients in the best way possible is important to us. To be employed by Blue Care, you will be required to complete the free NDIS Worker Orientation Module prior to commencement and provide a copy of your certificate on completion.
