The role of the Kitchenhand is to assist the Kitchen Supervisor and Cook in providing a nutritious, varied and quality food service to young people and staff of the Brisbane and West Moreton Youth Detention Centres.
The Ancillary team provides kitchen, cleaning, laundry and maintenance shared services to Brisbane and West Moreton Youth Detention Centres. This position will be rewarding as you are contributing to the delivery of services to support some of the most vulnerable youths in our community.

As a Kitchenhand, you will specifically:
- Assist in the preparation and provision of nutritious and varied meals to young persons and staff.
- Adherence to the security and safety of the Youth Detention Centres by observance of operational procedures and standards as they impact on kitchen processes and procedures.
- Maintain a hygienic, safe and secure working environment, including cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment.
- Assist in the control of stores and provisions.
- Contribute to an effective system of stock control, e.g. recording and stocktakes.
- Undertake administrative procedures in the food services area, including procedures for ordering, storing and distributing stores.
