About the Role
The Anatomical Pathology Department is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Assistant for our Department. You will rotate within all sections of the department assisting with various tasks as outlined in the position description.
The classifications for this position is IV18 ($54,845 per annum).
Summary of Duties (Please refer to Position Description for comprehensive list)
Office/Clerical area of Anatomical Pathology Department
- Participating in handling of all the department's incoming and outgoing mail
- Assisting in organization and retrieval of material for research and development projects authorized by the Director of Anatomical Pathology
- Assisting in the organization of material for the department's regular clinic-pathology meetings
- Assisting in handling of telephone enquiries in accordance with the documented 'Telephone Protocol'
Main Anatomical Pathology Laboratory
- Specimen setup
- Tissue Block Filing
- Slide Filing
- Preparation of laboratory reagents
- Data entry of patient details
- Tissue/Slide processing machine changes
Your Contribution
We are searching for a suitably experienced Laboratory Technician with the following:
- Good understanding of routine histopathology laboratory practice
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of programs
- Good attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills
- The ability to work with minimum supervision
- Current National criminal history check

About the Department of Anatomical Pathology
Our laboratory is committed to providing the most comprehensive range of diagnostic services available, it is N.A.T.A. and R.C.P.A. accredited. The consultants are specialists in a wide range of histological, molecular and cytopathological investigations. They are supported by medical scientists and technicians with considerable experience in all areas of Anatomical Pathology.
