About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician for our Serology section in Adelaide which provides quality serology results for a large range of pathogens on samples derived from all over Australia and New Zealand. You will be working as a member of a dedicated team of people including veterinarians, scientists, and technicians.
Key Responsibilities of Laboratory Technician:
- Performance of serology activities including Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Immunofluorescence assay (IFA) techniques.
- Dilution, handling and storage of serum and dried blood spots.
- Preparation of Positive and Negative controls.
- Preparation of working solutions.
- Antigen development, purification, evaluation, and titration.
- Maintain adequate stocks of reagents and consumables.
- Supply of relevant test results to clients by data entry.
- Co-ordinate the activities of serology by managing caseloads.
- Washing of glassware, preparation of consumables for autoclaving.
- Contribute to research programs or improvement to services undertaken by Cerberus Sciences.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by following safety procedures and maintaining expected laboratory practices.
Ideal Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Biotechnology/ Immunology (BSc.), Diploma of Medical Laboratory Science, or vocational training with at least 1 years’ experience as a laboratory technician in a related area.
- Experience in the ELISA and IFA technologies and interpretation of results is desirable.
- Experience in Cell culture techniques and virus isolation would be advantageous...
- Practical and relevant experience in a diagnostic pathology laboratory would be advantageous.
- An outstanding work ethic with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a desire to exceed customer service expectations by maintaining our commitment to service excellence.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to adapt to change, to be able to work with a dynamic team.
- Ability to follow established procedures and follow through instructions.
- Sound organisational skills including the ability to multitask and prioritise work.
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
- It would be preferable if you hold a current Australian Driver license.
