This role is based at Mount Hotham, nestled amongst the Victorian Alps of the Great Dividing Range. It boasts spectacular views, its own airport and a whopping 320 hectares of ski terrain. Hotham is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski areas including iconic resorts including Perisher and Falls Creek in Australia as well as Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb and Vail in North America.
We're thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in kickstarting pre-season work as a Summer Labourer! This role offers a chance to actively contribute to various projects, encompassing tasks such as constructing and repairing snow fences, regrowth cutting along ski runs, and providing assistance with buildings and other company assets.
We're on the lookout for individuals with a strong work ethic, a solid commitment to safety policies and procedures, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small team.
Candidates are expected to be physically fit and possess a valid driver’s licence. While prior experience with hand tools, chain saws, whipper snippers, and other equipment is preferred, it is not essential.
During summer it is a 4-day Monday to Thursday roster working from 7am - 5pm, and this position is scheduled to commence as soon as possible with opportunities to continue into winter 2024.
In this role, you will:
- Construct and repair snow fences.
- Perform regrowth cutting of saplings along ski runs.
- Assist with all summer works programs by providing labour support.
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Driver’s licence.
- Physically fit and healthy.
- Heavy vehicle licence endorsement and chainsaw trim and cross-cut ticket will be highly regarded.
- Experience using hand tools, chain saws, whipper snippers and other equipment.
