About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from local aboriginal persons; as defined in the Western Cape Communities Coexistence Agreement who are interested in Local Aboriginal Person (LAP) traineeships.We are looking for a Wik and/or Wik-Waya Land and Sea Officer Trainee to work with the team at Amrun to ‘care for country’ within mining operations.In addition to paying competitively and providing great benefits packages, we want you to live the lifestyle that is right for you and your family.   • Conducting land management activities according to an annual plan including prescribed burning, noxious weed surveys and control, feral animal management, turtle surveys and management, and rehabilitation and monitoring activities.
  • Recording and inputting data into electronic systems after internal training.
  • Driving a variety of vehicles (manual, all-terrain, medium rigid) on outer lease areas.
  • Cleaning and maintaining land management equipment.
  • Operating safely and efficiently in remote areas as a part of a team.
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for these opportunities, you must be a local aboriginal person [as defined in the Western Cape Communities Coexistence Agreement]. You will need to have:
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Have LAP Status Approval specifically identified as a Wik & Wik-Waya Traditional Owner.
  • Have a current Drivers Licence.
  • Be priority driven, self-motivated and has a passion to look after the environment.
  • Be able to work shift work located at Amrun (Southern Operations).
  • Be physically fit and able to carry out tasks in the outdoors.
  • Be enthusiastic and have a passion to work within a team.
  • Completed LAP status form (Attached)
