The Opportunity
We have a great entry-level opportunity for a motivated Law Clerk to join our Insurance Litigation team with a focus on compulsory third party claims as well as workers' compensation and employer liability claims. You will be part of a friendly, collegiate and hard-working team and will be supported with on-the-job training and professional development.
You will work alongside a dedicated team of Solicitors and will also have direct Partner mentoring. In this role, you will be exposed to a range of interesting defendant insurance files and will have the opportunity to build your skills.
Key Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this role include:
- Assisting the Principals and Solicitors on a range of defendant compulsory third party claims as well as workers' compensation and employer liability claims.
- Assisting with negotiating settlements, attending conferences, mediations, and court. Drafting court documents, including pleadings, briefs, and motions.
- Communicating directly with clients via email, phone and in person meetings.
Requirements
Our ideal candidate will be studying towards a Bachelor of Laws with an interest to work in the insurance area.
In addition, they will possess the following:
- Confidence to build on their litigation skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with clients and colleagues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A keen eye for detail and excellent time-management skills.
