Our Insurance WA team has approximately 85 people located across Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. The Insurance WA team is a defendant insurance legal team, working across both General Insurance and Statutory Insurance matters, including CTP, workers' compensation, recoveries, liability, professional indemnity and general insurance. You will be involved in a variety of matters including:
- providing advice – including on liability and quantum - to the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (the sole Compulsory Third Party insurer for motor vehicle accidents in WA);
- acting for out-of-state insurers defending WA CTP claims;
- litigation in the District Court of WA, including attending chamber summons hearings, directions hearings, compromise hearings and special appointments; and
- advising on the interpretation and application of statutory provisions relevant to CTP and motor vehicle accidents, including the Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance) Act 1943.
We are keen to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
- between 2 – 4 years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance law, ideally within CTP / motor vehicle accidents;
- experience in the day-to-day management of files, and in running matters through court proceedings;
- a proactive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team;
- clear, concise legal writing skills; and
- strong attention to detail.
