About the Role
Our long-standing relationships and deep knowledge of the insurance industry means we are recognised as the premier Insurance Law & Litigation practice in Australia.
Working closely with the Partners, the position involves providing insurance and government clients with relevant legal advice regarding complex casualty and liability matters.

Responsibilities
  • Working for high-profile clients on insurance matters involving general insurance and liability
  • Managing a wide portfolio of personal injury and property liability claims including: -
  • Managing public and product liability claims in the pre-court proceedings process and litigation
  • Advising on policy coverage issues, limitation, liability, causation, quantum, reserves, and strategy
  • Liaising with witnesses and preparing statements
  • Preparing and reviewing discovered documents and evidence
  • Engaging with independent experts, counsel, opposing lawyers and mediators
  • Drafting court documents, settlement deeds and medical panel referrals
  • Appearing at court, conferences, and mediations
  • Preparing briefs and instructing counsel during court hearings, mediations and conferences
  • Working in partnership with senior practitioners and other team members
  • Delegating work and providing instructions to lawyers, paralegals, graduates and administrative support
  • Mentoring and coaching lawyers to assist with their development
  • Assisting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations
  • Retaining and building business
About You
  • Suitable candidates will bring strong pre-court proceedings (PIPA) and litigation experience in Defendant Insurance with an emphasis on casualty claims
  • A current practising certificate for QLD
  • 3 years' + PAE preferred
  • Training and experience gained in a mid or top tier law firm
  • You are self-driven, have excellent verbal and written communication, and time management skills
  • You can manage competing priorities effectively
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particularly the ability to earn the confidence and trust of key stakeholders
  • You pride yourself on being a team player who is professional, client focused and supportive of your colleagues
  • Underpinning your drive for excellence is a desire to achieve quality outcomes in commercial litigation claims.
