Job description

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Impressions Early Education vision is focused on nurturing each child’s unique learning journey. We are a small family business with an ambitious and experienced leadership team who recognise the importance of creating a nurturing and engaging environment for our little learners.

Our name reflects the uniqueness of each child and the way they respond to the world around them. Like the impression of a fingerprint, we recognise that every child is distinctly different and deserves to be seen, supported, and guided as an individual, at their own pace.

Impressions are memorable, just like great early childhood experiences.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our BRAND-NEW Ripley centre will be licensed for 162 children a day across eight studios (classrooms). We are scheduled to open in early 2024, so we are now taking Expressions of Interest from passionate and dedicated Lead & Associate Educators who are interested in forming our foundation team for a fresh start in the new year.

With oversized classrooms, additional support staffing levels over the required ratio and a dedicated “Caretaker Team” for each centre  (including a centre cleaner and a gardener), we are confident we are on the right path to setting a new benchmark in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector.

ABOUT OUR TEAM:

Working for Impressions Early Education is an experience like no other. We “catch the energy” of The FISH! Philosophy and “release the potential” of the four FISHY principles (PLAY, BE THERE, CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE and MAKE THEIR DAY) in everything we do.

  • We acknowledge that when coworkers make a commitment to be there for each other, trust grows, and teamwork improves.
  • When they make each other’s day with simple gestures of recognition and thanks, people feel valued.
  • When people bring a playful state of mind to work, it releases energy and enthusiasm.
  • When everyone, leaders included, takes responsibility for the attitudes they choose, the team spends less time on unproductive behaviours and more time working for a common goal.

As an Impressions Educator, you’ll also have the opportunity to make a lasting impression on the lives of young children through our inquiry-based curriculum. Inspired by Jerome Bruner’s Spiral Theory, our unique curriculum has been designed to celebrate each child's whole self, valuing their individual voices and promoting sustained shared thinking for each unique little learner.

Essential Criteria:

  • A willingness to place the children’s best interest at the heart of every decision.
  • Possess a solution orientated attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously if required.
  • Show a clear understanding of all relevant learning frameworks including EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework), QKLG (Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines) and the NQF (National Quality Framework).

Desirable Criteria:

  • An interest in exploring various educational theorists and theories.
  • A genuine passion and energy for pedagogy and an interest in implementing an inquiry-based learning framework.
  • Possess excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Experience using Xplor software is advantageous, but not essential.

ABOUT THE IMPRESSIONS BENEFITS:

We place an emphasis on creating a company culture built around gratitude where every team member can feel happy, appreciated and most importantly, love coming to work each day.

  • Generous Renumeration: We pay above award rates for all staff starting at 10% above the award increasing with each year of service as well as discounted childcare fees of 75% for staff children attending one of our centres.
  • Staff Incentives: We provide a yearly uniform budget for all staff, fully paid sector specific certifications (First Aid, CPR and Blue Cards) and centre closure for the week of Christmas to support prioritisation of family time for everyone.
  • Substantial Bonus Scheme: We know quality educators are hard to come by so we offer a $1,000 referral bonus (per referral) for staff who successfully refer friends to join our team.
  • Ongoing Professional Development: We support the professional growth of our educators by providing ongoing training and development opportunities (nationally and internationally) via our Professional Development Program.
  • Wellbeing Budget: With our emphasis on educator wellbeing, you will have an opportunity to participate in our Weekly Wellness Wednesday events, Monthly FISH! Philosophy Events and Annual Educator Gratitude Event.
