A Lead Engineer provides in-team leadership and has a broad focus which includes people management, team health, tech culture and cohesion, while also driving the delivery of software within product delivery/systems/platform teams and strengthening engineering quality.All Certsy Engineering Leads are also Staff-level Engineers, so you’re still expected to be a significant individual contributor by writing clean, scalable, testable code and ensuring high development practices and standards.You will be responsible for line management of engineers, and actively participate in leading, mentoring and developing other engineers. You demonstrate passion for your craft through maintaining team health and functional capabilities as well as ensuring our solutions are meeting business and technical needs.ResponsibilitiesGuide other engineers to build, test, deploy and maintain software from development through to production Strengthen current Software Engineering practices and improve existing DevOps cultureUplift platform health, ensuring that our systems are, reliable, resilient, and efficientBuild and operate highly scalable and performant software in alignment with existing frameworks and Certsy’s technology strategyTroubleshoot and manage production incidents through to resolution including proactively managing on-call process, incident reviews and supporting documentationManage skill development of secure system design and coding practices. Ensures team alignment to Certsy’s security principles.Grow team member functional capabilities through line management & coaching effortsLead the wellbeing of the team by fostering safety, inclusivity, diversity and engagement/cultureSome of the technology we're using includes:Ruby on RailsNode.jsReact and TypescriptGraphQLPostgreSQL and RedisAll aspects of AWSQualificationsWorking in a cross functional software engineering team with some experience in supervising/coaching/mentoring EngineersExperience applying and improving continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practicesDemonstrated experience consistently writing well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling Has created and maintained software in two or more modern software development languages (RoR and/or Typescript would be highly regarded)Experience with the design, development, support, and maintenance of cloud first applications and APIsExperience using logging and monitoring/alerting tools that will support operational healthManaging operational support duties, including on-call support (within and outside of business hours)Ability to collaborate with various cross functional stakeholders, focusing on outcomes that best serve the overall strategyAs a team member we value the following traitsCuriosity and joy in learning new things (if you don't know something - you find out.
