Create impact in your next career move and join our caring and supportive team as a Senior Liability Underwriter focused on our Victoria market.  Utilise your mastery of general insurance underwriting principles and techniques to assess moderate to complex liability risks and leverage your strategic knowledge and involvement in trade and industry to deliver real customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

Working alongside our account management and business development teams, collaborate with agents and brokers to craft customised coverage solutions through expert negotiation. With solid experience under your belt, bring your wealth of knowledge in general liability insurance and risk management to the table, while delivering unparalleled customer service with a focus on responsiveness. This is a full-time permanent opportunity, based in Melbourne. 

Responsibilities

  • Apply underwriting strategy with respect to target markets and accounts in area of responsibility
  • Underwrite Liability insurance risks adhering to underwriting guidelines and standards
  • Liaise with account management and business development teams to support account management and procurement
  • Support and mentor team, provides guidance as appropriate and takes responsibility for personal development
  • Support the management of the Liability portfolio across underwriting processing and credit management, documentation issuance and general servicing and management of liability risks
  • Build and develop relationships with customers (internal and external), including partner agent and broker visits to nurture relationships and opportunities.

​About You 

  • Solid experience in general Liability Underwriting, insurance risk management, or related roles. 
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance agents, brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in evaluating general insurance risks and determining coverage terms.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address complex underwriting scenarios and negotiate terms with stakeholders.
  • Customer-centric approach to understanding client needs and providing responsive service. 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Pricing and Portfolio Management. 
  • An insurance qualification e.g. ANZIIF Cert IV or in the process of working towards. ​
