Leading Hand - Solar Panel & Gutter Cleaning
Reporting to Operations Manager, the incumbent will work both solo as well as in conjunction with other team-members, with a primary view to being the designated senior technician overseeing all field team members as we continue to grow.
Our team works in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Lower & Upper Hunter, Port Stephens, and Central Coast regions on a daily basis with occasional work in the New England, Mid North Coast and Sydney regions.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
This role will be responsible for the safe and efficient completion of daily duties as scheduled. Our business includes the following core services:
- Inspection & cleaning of Solar Panel systems.
- Bird proofing or Solar Panel arrays.
- Cleaning of roof gutters and valleys.
- Supply & Installation of gutter guard mesh.
Work will be carried out predominantly in residential environment, however some work will be done in commercial & industrial sites where more people and mobile equipment may be present, and whereby more stringent safety precautions and processes will need to be adhered to and followed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Process
1.1. Carry out risk assessments of work environment prior to commencing work.
1.2. Liaise with clients and other staff to ensure all work is done, and all safety measures are put into place.
1.3. Carryout cleaning, inspections and bird-proofing of Solar Panel arrays.
1.4. Carryout cleaning of roof gutters and valleys.
1.5. Complete reports including capturing photos – typically done on mobile phone or tablet.
1.6. Ensure follow-up and corrective action items are reported.

All of the above are ESSENTIAL and they will be required in order to commence work. If you do not have these, then you will need to do so and we are prepared to reimburse the cost to do so to you after a period of 6 months continuity of employment.
You will also need a drivers license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle. It would be very advantageous for you to know how to manoeuvre (i.e. reverse) a box trailer. You will require a reliable vehicle to get to work.
2. Experience (preferred but not essential)
2.1. Previous experience with working at heights – e.g., roofing, gutter installation.
2.2. Previous experience with cleaning of glass or other surfaces – e.g., window cleaning, soft/pressure washing, house washing.
2.3. Previous experience with electrical contracting – e.g., solar installation or electrical work.
3. Skills
3.1. Able to use Apple iPhone or iPad – our job scheduling & management system is iOS App-Based.
3.2. Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
3.3. Strong verbal and written communication, ability to complete an app-based report based on interpreting visual and inspection.
3.4. Organised and able to meet deadlines, Punctual & reliable.
3.5. Able to behave professionally and with respect when dealing with clients verbally on the phone, and in person.
3.6. Understand that you are working within the confines of clients’ premises and to take the utmost of care to ensure property is not damaged.
