Explore to learn more about us.About the role - The role of the Learning Enhancement School Officer is to provide a professional and comprehensive level of inclusion support and interpersonal intelligence for the Learning Enhancement Team, other staff and students of the College, which is proactive and responsive in nature according to need at specific points in time.You will be responsible for:
  • Value adding to teaching and learning for all students at different times, under the design, direction and monitoring of the Class Teacher, ie to supplement Class Teachers’ work, rather than replace them. Allow teacher flexibility to identity learning needs of students
  • Support for different groups of students between Class Teacher and School Officer on a rotational model, to allow all students equitable access to teacher time
  • Assisting students to develop independent learning skills and manage their own learning, by:
  • Exposing students to opportunities to take risks with their learning
  • Providing the right amount of support at the right time
  • Encourage and prompt responses through open-ended questioning
  • Giving the least amount of help first to support students’ ownership of the task
  • Demonstration of equipment, support with the use of assistive technology, visual representation of teacher instructions
  • Providing teaching triage, ie actively moving around the classroom identifying students not engaging or progressing in learning and aiding/prompting the student and/or flagging this to the teacher for further direction
  • Helping students in readiness for learning – actively moving around the classroom identifying students not yet ready to learn and transitioning learners into another phase of learning by preparing for learning - Whole, Part, Whole
  • Administrative tasks, including (and not limited to) photocopying, processing documents, binding, laminating, etc
  • Engaging in professional learning allowing an individual to develop new skills and knowledge that a Learning Enhancement School Officer can bring to their professional work
