The Role
Reporting to the Head of Learning Strategies, the Learning Strategies Teacher will be teaching Literacy Skills classes to small groups of Middle School students, collaborating with classroom teachers to plan and resource students’ Individual Learning Plans across a range of subjects, and following up referrals made to the Learning Strategies Area. As a valued member of our team, you will be part of making a real difference by positively impacting student experience and contributing to our School community.
This is a part-time with a 0.6 FTE fixed term contract for Term 3 only, based at our Caulfield Campus. The Learning Strategies Teacher will demonstrate a passion for engaging and challenging students through effective and innovative teaching.
Key Duties
- Structure teaching programs using research and collegial advice about how students learn
- Develop teaching activities that incorporate differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities
- Design and implement teaching activities that support the participation and learning of students with disability and address relevant policy and legislative requirements
- Provide flexible support that caters for individual students and use effective assessment methods to track and report on student progress
- Actively participate in professional development activities
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviors
Skills and Experience
- Hold a current VIT Registration
- Experience in working with secondary students with individual learning needs
- A knowledge of diagnostic assessment, particularly in a 1-1 setting
- A knowledge of the IB MYP is desirable
- Qualification in Learning Intervention
- Teaching and Presentation, Time Management and Organisation skills
- Flexible, Creative, Approachable and a Team Player
