Learning Support Assistant - Individual Needs - Prep School
To commence Term 3, 2024
Fixed-term for the 2024 school year, part-time working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm
32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (School term time only).

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide assistance in the Preparatory School and during activities for individual children with specific special learning needs. You will support classroom teachers to establish an effective learning environment and to provide adjustments to learning materials to support the individual student access and participate in education on the same basis as other students. Active supervision and one-to-one support for the student is required. You may need to assist the student with personal needs where necessary.

Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Certificate III in Education Support (as minimum or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in working with individual students with special needs
  • An understanding of students with a high level of additional needs.
  • Creative and demonstrates initiative
  • Excellent ICT and administrative skills
  • Ability to attend excursions, sports days, camps (if applicable) and other school-based activities
  • Current certification in Provide First Aid (or ability to acquire)
  • Awareness of the Privacy Act

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a diverse range of students and parents
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality.
