About This Opportunity
The Lecturer in Clinical Skills and Coordinator will teach into the Clinical skills and simulation sessions and courses within their scope of clinical expertise, with a key role and responsibility to coordinate the Clinical skills and simulation program and ensuring it aligns with the learning outcomes of the MD Program.
Key responsibilities include:
Teaching - Plan in consultation with the Head and other academics of the Toowoomba RCU, a comprehensive Clinical Skills and Simulation program, which will align with and complement the learning outcomes of the medical program, within a rural and regional context.
Develop, coordinate and teach within scope of practice into the Clinical Skills and Simulation program.
Be responsible for managing and maintaining the physical educational environment of the simulated learning environments including simulators and associated equipment, resources, consumables, and communication technologies.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning - Consistently undertake activities that develop a knowledge base of effective discipline-specific pedagogical practices.
Maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of scholarship of teaching and learning.
Work with colleagues in the development of quality projects which contribute to building the Regional Clinical Unit and the Rural Clinical School’s research capacity by enabling and engaging in collaborative research projects between UQ academics, health service clinicians and other partners.
Supervision and Researcher Development - Undertake scholarship related to Clinical skills and simulation training including maintaining currency in the discipline, developing skills in aspects of teaching practice, continuous improvement of curricula and teaching resources.

This is a part-time (30%), fixed-term position through until 31st December 2024 at Academic Level B.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $106,079 - $125,687 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $124,113 - $147,054 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You
Completion of a PhD in the discipline area, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training, together with relevant experience permitting APHRA registration.
Experience and demonstrated record of providing leadership in a clinical and/or educational role.
Experience and demonstrated record of supervising or mentoring staff.
Expertise in using appropriate simulation techniques for Clinical skills training. These techniques can include screen-based simulation, virtual reality, patient simulators, part-task trainers and simulated patients.
Ability to work independently to achieve planned objectives including being able to prioritise tasks competing for limited resources and working within a budget.
High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues and the wider community.
Demonstrate competency in risk management.
Current or recent clinical experience.
Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding, living and working in a rural and/or regional area.
