This role as a Lecturer in General Practice within the Melbourne Dental School offers an exciting opportunity to actively engage in shaping the next generation of dental professionals. You'll play a pivotal role in guiding students through their journey in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program, fostering a culture of evidence-based dentistry and patient-centered care. The unique aspect of this position lies in not only teaching but also contributing to the diverse range of programs offered, allowing for a broad scope of impact and professional development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute and support subject coordinators and/or content convenors in the successful delivery of teaching to a high standard.
- Contribute to the development of digital assets for learning and teaching.
- Prepare and mark assessments and consult with students as required.
- Engage with relevant professional and industry bodies and stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.
You are a highly motivated individual driven to excel in teaching. You demonstrate independence, teamwork, and exceptional communication, thriving in a diverse and patient-oriented teaching environment.
You will also have:
- A primary dental qualification registrable with the Dental Board of Australia and current AHPRA registration (No previous or current AHPRA conditions).
- Extensive clinical experience in General dental practice
- Clinical Practice skills supported by contemporary evidence-based dental practice.
- A proven record of success in ongoing extra-mural clinical practice and continuing professional development.
This position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone.

The Melbourne Dental School has a strong tradition in dental research and an established international reputation in several research areas. Research in the School is an integral component of staff and student activities underpinning both the undergraduate and graduate curricula. The major research activities of the school are conducted via three divisions and four major research groups, which range translational biomedical science to clinical studies, pedagogical research. The Head of School joined the University of Melbourne in 2020 and is leading a program of change within the School focusing on strategic reviews of education, research and organisational structure, known as MDS'25.
