About the Role
Flinders University is seeking a Lecturer in Human Geography to contribute to its excellence in teaching and learning within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The successful incumbent will work across the suite of urban and regional planning-related topics and be responsible for making independent contributions to teaching and the scholarship of teaching, using innovations and technologies.
More specifically, as the Lecturer in Human Geography, you will:
- Create, coordinate and conduct inspiring teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience, with a focus on urban and regional planning topics.
- Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development and career opportunities.
- Undertake activities that promote the development of productive partnerships to provide opportunities for students and promote graduate employability.
About You
As the successful incumbent, you will be an excellent communicator with the ability to establish positive relationships with staff, students and industry partners. You will demonstrate a student-centred approach and be passionate about achieving optimum learning outcomes for students. Independently, and in collaboration with your team, you will actively work towards growing the Human Geography discipline at Flinders University.
You will also demonstrate:
- Evidence of successful and independent innovation in learning and teaching delivery or design, including use of e-learning technologies.
- Experience of significant teaching and learning experience at a tertiary level.
- Completion of a PhD or EdD in a relevant area, or equivalent qualification; a particular focus on an aspect of urban and regional planning will be highly valued.
- Current or eligible membership to the Planning Institute of Australia is highly desirable.
