About This Opportunity 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer to join the Academy for Medical Education (AME), to contribute to the design and delivery of the MD Doctor of Medicine program, and its continuous enhancement.  This role supports students in developing their skills in Critical Thinking, evidence-based practice, and research.  At this level the incumbent will engage in course coordination, teaching, and support the activities of other staff. They are also expected to facilitate collaborative opportunities for students engage in developing skills in research across the wider footprint of the Medical School.  The incumbent is additionally expected to contribute to scholarship of learning and teaching aligned with the focus areas of the Academy of Medical Education, and to citizenship.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Teaching: Coordinate and contribute to the delivery of courses and learning opportunities in the MD Program, in consultation with the Theme Leads

  • Design and develop innovative teaching and learning activities that is engaging, relevant and contemporary.

  • Teach across different settings including online learning and alternative learning paradigms where appropriate.

  • Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoTL): Develop a knowledge of effective pedagogical practices.

  • Collaborate in the development and execution of projects that enhance ways to improve teaching and learning.

  • Undertake independent and/or team research aligned to the AME areas of scholarship of teaching and learning that are innovative, subject to peer review, and/or lead to quality research outputs.

  • Supervision and Research Development:  Contribute to the supervision of research projects and/or Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).

  • Collaborate with colleagues to facilitate opportunities for the development of students’ skills in research.

  • Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values.

  • Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and culturally safe workplace and learning environment.

This is a part-time (50%), continuing position.

At Academic level B. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $106,079- $125,687, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $124,113 - $147,054 annually.

As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You  

  • Completion of a PhD in the discipline area; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and designing activities that support the development of research skills and data management.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and effectively engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning and quality enhancement activities relevant to education.

  • A track record in the scholarship of teaching and learning as determined by grant income, supervision of research students and publication record.  

  • Ability to establish effective relationships, work collaboratively with colleagues and to represent and promote the interests of the school to other academic units, government and professional bodies.  

  • A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.
