SLR Consulting has a great opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our friendly and hard-working team ideally on a full-time basis. Using your previous experience, you will work within the Contracts & Risk team providing efficient and reliable assistance to our technical consultants and clients. Key Responsibilities Job tasks and responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Draft and negotiate consultancy services contracts, standard form contracts/subcontracts and other commercial agreements.
- Analyse contracts to ensure they comply with statutory regulations, insurance obligations and our QMS/ policy requirements.
- Independently review and provide advice on leases, and other commercial documents.
- Analyse potential risks involved with specific contracts terms and conditions and escalate any risk concerns where required.
- Participates in technical and/or professional associations and stays up-to date with legislative changes.
- Reviews and maintains contract terms and conditions and provide input to insurance policy renewals.
- Works efficiently and effectively with third parties to ensure statutory compliance and minimalize contractual risk and exposure.
- Deliver a high standard of work, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept informed.
- Create regular status reports regarding progress on projects.
- Contribute to training programs for non-legal staff.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in either an inhouse legal team of an engineering/ environmental science consultancy, or within a law firm will be highly regarded.
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Relevant Legal degree.
- Experience in negotiating contracts and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail focused and able to work with tight timeframes to meet internal client needs.
- Computer literacy and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent business judgment and high level of professionalism.
- Highly organized , excellent analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Have willingness to explore and recommend commercially viable options and solutions to the business and to our teams you support.
