The Role

The Legal Secretary will assist in providing a secretarial and administrative support role to the lawyers situated in the Northern Region offices (Port Augusta and Whyalla) who work on criminal, family and civil matters.

The incumbent of this role will greet individuals who telephone or attend our offices with a service that is customer centred. 

Salary Range

$65,294 – $70,154 per annum is based on a full time hours and includes salary, superannuation and leave loading.  The per annum salary will be adjusted on a pro rata basis if part time.

In addition to the per annum salary you will receive a salary allowance of 10% of the per annum salary whilst employed as the Legal Secretary based in the Northern region (Whyalla/Port Augusta).

As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.

Term of Employment Contract 

Part time (0.8 FTE – 30 hours per week minimum requirement) or full time will be considered and an ongoing employment at the ASO2 classification level. 

What You Need For Success

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, foster sound working relationships with a range of staff and stakeholders and prepare clear and succinct correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, flexible, conscientious, reliable and enthusiastic and exercise confidence, sensitivity and discretion in handling confidential matters and difficult clients. 
  • Ability to prepare timely and accurate legal documents from notes and/or digital dictation software provided by legal officers.
  • Experience in providing professional and timely secretarial and administrative support services in a demanding legal environment including dealing with challenging clients in a culturally appropriate manner.
