Lending Capability Lead- Shepparton Office, permanent full time

About the Role

As the Lending Capability Lead, you will play a pivotal role in advancing GMCU's lending strategies and operations. This leadership role requires an individual with proven track record in shaping and implementing lending initiatives. The Lending Capability Lead is responsible for developing and executing lending strategies, facilitate coaching and ongoing training for lenders, overseeing the entire lending process, ensuring compliance with lending laws, developing relationships with stakeholders, and staying current with market trends. 


Key responsibilities include, but not limited to 

  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to develop and execute lending strategies that align with the GMCU’s strategic objectives and priorities, including identifying new lending products and services, expanding into new markets, and improving existing lending processes.
  • Analysing market trends and developments and recommend updates to lending policies, procedures, products and services as required.
  • Providing leadership, coaching, and direction to the lending team, including the setting and monitoring of performance goals. KPI’s and objectives, providing feedback and coaching, team meetings and training sessions.
  • Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures to ensure compliance, participating in internal audits of lending practices, and responding to regulatory inquiries and audits.
  • Actively engage with members, local community and other stakeholders to form cohesive and productive working relationships that support the delivery of GMCU’s purpose and expand GMCU’s lending portfolio. 


About You

  • Demonstratable commitment to purpose-led service delivery and GMCU’s Values of Integrity, Responsible, Progressive and Excellence.
  • Existing ASIC Tier 2 Certificate and Certificate IV in Finance and Broker Management 
  • Exceptional leadership skills that support the development of a high performing team, including mentoring, coaching, supporting capability uplift and continuous improvement and change transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the home lending environment, including advanced knowledge of home loan processes and systems.
  • Experience and commitment to driving excellence and quality outcomes in the lending environment.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements that apply to the banking and finance industry.
  • Exceptional planning and time management with the ability to manage evolving priorities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of the sales and service methodology and processes
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with an understanding of the interdependence between achievement of customer and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities that lead to effective decision making.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting reports and information to a broad range of stakeholders including, Board, leadership team and other groups.
  • The ability to successfully meet GMCU’s pre-employment screening requirements.
