Job description

We are in search of a dedicated Librarian Teacher to contribute to the academic enrichment of our Catholic school community in Toorak. This role involves curating a vibrant library atmosphere conducive to learning and exploration, promoting a love for literature, research, and information literacy among students. The Librarian Teacher will manage library resources, assist students and faculty in locating materials, and provide guidance on research methodologies and citation techniques. Additionally, they will collaborate with educators to integrate library resources into the curriculum, organize literary events, and oversee extracurricular reading programs. Upholding the values and principles of Catholic education, the Librarian Teacher will also infuse faith-based perspectives into library programming and collections. This role offers an exciting opportunity to nurture intellectual curiosity and support holistic student development within a faith-centred environment. Key duties

  • Assist in developing the library services and programs, including information literacy, the integration of learning technologies and literature program.
  • Promote reading as a lifelong skill and recreational interest through the reading program and promotional activities.
  • Work with teaching staff to develop the library's collection to be relevant to and reflect the curriculum needs and recreational interests of students and staff
  • Assist students and staff in their use of the library through formal teaching activities and informal instruction
  • Supervise student use of the library during school hours
  • Work as part of the College library team to promote the place of the library within the educational context
  • Attend library faculty meetings

Skills & Experience:

  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience as a Librarian Teacher
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
