About the Role

 

Reporting to the BOS Lead Yandi, this position is accountable for implementation of BHP Operating System (BOS) and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives for the site by effectively influencing and collaborating across departments and workstreams.

Key Accountabilities 

 

  • Lead and support the implementation and continued application of Standardised Work (SW) and other BHP Operating System (BOS) tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement on the frontline and sustainably embed new ways of working.
  • Coach Supervisors and Superintendents to reinforce and sustain the BHP Operating System.
  • Role model the use of BOS principles, SW and other BOS tools.
  • Establish, maintain, and attend designated core routines with the Supervisor and Superintendent to help them identify ways they can support SW and other BOS tools
  • Build SW content during the early stages of a pilot, transitioning to a coaching role as SW Builders gain more experience
  • Facilitate problem solving sessions with the Frontline off a base of SW to identify the root cause of problems and design, test and implement solutions aligned with the intent of the BOS
  • Support the department leadership team in the delivery of key improvement initiatives linked to the sites Integrated Operations Plan.
  • Support the Superintendent Site Improvement in the delivery of site wide initiatives across the site/asset value streams as required.
  • Delivery of content in the BOS dojo/learning centre to support the ongoing development and maturity of capability across site leaders and teams 

 

About You

 

As the successful applicant you will possess the following: 

 

  • You have prior experience as a Leader or Technical Professional 
  • Exposure to mining, maintenance or processing is ideal but experience in other industries that utilise an operating system founded on lean principles would be highly regarded (e.g. manufacturing, health, finance, logistics, etc.) 
  • You will have an understanding/exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and organisational change 
  • You are will be able to establish credibility as a trusted advisor and through your strong improvement, leadership, coaching and communication skills 
  • You will be comfortable with ambiguity, complexity and delivering outcomes in a matrix environment using your collaboration, engagement, influence and coaching skills

Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) is an integrated system of four processing hubs and five mines connected by more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia.

 

Yandi is located 178 kilometres north-west of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. In 2017, Yandi became the second WA-based iron ore mine to achieve a billion tonnes of ore produced in its lifetime. Yandi Continues to play an integral role to WAIO’s performance and future of the asset.
